CFR.org has posted my instant-analysis of President Obama’s remarks last night on foreign policy. If Mitt Romney gave us the No Apology campaign book, Obama has now given us the "No Apology" State of the Union address. The pummeling he has been getting from Republicans on his handling of foreign policy hasn’t dimmed his confidence one bit:
Obama’s message to his Republican opponents was that he has no intention of running away from his foreign policy record. He is instead going to run on it.
Based on where the public is and where the Republican presidential candidates want to go, that doesn’t look to be a bad bet.
Now to the important stuff. Obama spoke for one hour, four minutes, and forty-four seconds, which sounds familiar for some reason. And you won if you had the under on the word count in Obama’s speech last night. The speech came in at 7,059 words.
